Kids Life Studio® Coach Academy
I have a very serious question for you: Are You a Superhero or a Sidekick?
As a Kids Life Coach, I believe that you're kind of like a superhero. You swoop in with your superpowers of empathy, patience, and understanding, ready to guide, support, and inspire kids on their big life journey. The sad truth is that even superheroes can sometimes trip over their capes, right? There's a sneaky little villain that can creep up on us - it's called the Ego.
Ego - The Invisible Villain, loves to take centre stage. It whispers in your ear, telling you to stick to your favourite coaching methods because they're comfortable, even if they're not the best fit for the kid you're coaching. It makes you want to do everything yourself, rather than teaming up with others like our global network of Kids Life Coaches.
To avoid failing as a Kids Life Coach, I believe Teamwork is the Superpower we all need. Remember, even Batman needs Robin! Being a team player is all about joining forces with others to support the child's growth. It's about sharing the spotlight with parents, teachers, and a professional supervisor.
I still maintain that when a Kids Life Coach forgets that "teamwork makes the dream work" they lose sight of truly making a real difference in a child's life.
So, how do we make sure we're more super team players than a lone superhero? First, let's keep our minds as open as our hearts. Every child is unique, and there's always something new to learn.
Next, let's remember to pass the baton sometimes. Regular attendance at best practices group mentorship sessions with fellow coaches, or conversations with parents, teachers, and others involved in the child's life can lead to shared insights and strategies.
Finally, let's take a moment every now and then to check our superhero ego at the door. Are we making decisions for the child's benefit, or are we just staying in our comfort zone and trying to feel good about our own efforts without recognising this.
Remember, being a Kids Life Coach isn't about being the lone superhero. It's about being part of a super team, working together to support, guide, and inspire. So, let's hang up our capes, join forces, and make a real difference in the lives of the children we work with.
