Getting uncomfortable as a Kids Life Coach

Uncategorized Oct 28, 2024

Imagine you're standing at the edge of a tangled mysterious forest. The trees are whispering secrets, the path ahead is veiled in a light mist, and every step forward feels like stepping into the unknown. It is muddy, wet and seems uninviting and very uncomfortable.

This forest is the metaphorical representation of our comfort zones, and just beyond the dense foliage lies a world brimming with treasures, waiting to be discovered. This is the adventure that awaits on the other side of your discomfort.  This past week, I took a client on a walk in this metaphorical forest that we nicknamed "Spaghetti Forest" because it was a tangle of branches with no clear pathway...just like her brain at the beginning of our 5 day Kids Life Coaching Retreat together.

For her, starting her Kids Life Coaching business after being in corporate for so many years feels uncomfortable. Just like her first step into the forest might have felt daunting. What she discovered is that the decision to try something new, to challenge yourself, and to embrace the uncertainty comes with growth.

As you push through the underbrush of doubt and the vines of fear, you'll start to uncover the treasures that were always waiting for you. These aren't just the tangible rewards of increased engagement and positive feedback from the children you coach, but also the intangible growth within yourself. You'll discover resilience you didn't know you had, creativity that was waiting to be unleashed, and a deeper connection with your clients who see the authenticity and courage in your coaching approach.

After leaving this tangled wood...we found ourselves in a beautiful open lakeland.  She then had the realisation that her journey through discomfort of launching her own business coaching children not only transformed her own outlook on life but will also make a profound impact on children.

So, to all of you brave children's change makers standing at the edge of your own forest of discomfort you need to believe that a payoff awaits you. Your path may be uncertain and sometimes you may not know how to deal with the challenges, but the treasures you'll find in the children you work with are worth every step.

Remember, every great adventure begins with a single step that starts with moving through your discomfort. What's your next step going to be?
